The projected role of the Paul Project is to acquire large amount of Narcan and place supplies of Narcan with high risk individuals and in high risk settings.
The latter objective is being addressed by working with the Santa Barbara County Opioid Safety Coalition (https://opioidsafetysb.org/) to provide the capital to acquire and place hundreds of Naloxboxes in high risk areas such as public parks, bars and homeless shelters.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that programs for drug users and their caregivers prescribing take-home doses of naloxone and training on its use prevented 10,000 opioid overdose deaths in 2014.
